I use both behavior traits or color and size.

The Kids: Big Momma, Bwana, BiBi, Honey, Aggie, Stretch, Sparky, Houdini, Tang, Zeke & Izzie; The Big Guys: Kaiser, Mo-de-law', Belle & SuzyQ; and our 15 new Little Ones; all PPs and our baby Es: Killer, Ol' Yeller, Scooter, Mr. Greenjeans, Orange and our tiny Smidgen. |

I always try to give them a tough or mighty name because I think of them as little armor-plated tough guys. The names I've used have been: Tank, Dozer, Zamboni, Tonka, Tumbler, Triton, Vadar, and Magnum. Most of these have TV/movie references too, which gives them greater and more universal appeal, I think.

I like naming them by their behavior. Chevy got his name because he got loose in my car on the way home and Lucky got his name because he was lucky I didn't throw him out with the rest since I thought he was missing. LOL. I still have two to name.
