I use a peanut butter I found in the grocery store called Crazy Richard's...it's "100% Natural" and contains only "peanuts".

If you want to use a freshly killed fish for food, try as hard as possible to not use goldfish. The conditions they come from at the breeders arent the cleanest, and keeping that many fish that produce that much ammonia together is never a good thing.

I purchased a dozen guppies about six months ago and have always had enough to feed from for the three pets that get guppies. I'm feeding probably third and fourth generation guppies and I know exactly how they have been raised, that no chemicals were used in the water and what they have been eating.

Just an observation, but I dont think its necessary to ask for a thread to be closed. I've never seen a thread closed on this site unless a moderator decides so to stop an argument, etc. Otherwise threads remain open.

if you have problems with food, you can give them a lot of household food as long as it's natural...

you can give them coconut, natural peanut butter, unsalted and unbuttered popcorn, egg shells (take the membrane off the shells), and even the egg it self (I feed mine boiled eggs).

you can also give them green beans, lettuce, celery, apple, pineapple, and every once in awhile, you can give them dry cat food. mine love it!

Fish is great, but dead goldfish? they start to stink really quick and the bacteria may get your hermies sick. (I know this for a fact, I got this poor little thing out of pitty at a fair and a while after I got it it died on me and I didn't know till the next morning and GOD DID THAT THING STINK! good thing I brought febreeze with me to the funeral service I held. May he rest in peace.)

With crabs the smell is what attracts them to the food. The stinker the better. Leave some raw fish or meat on your counter for a few hours. I defrost mine in the morning by leaving it out. Once evening comes in goes the stinky fish. It becomes a mad house in there

Another thing, hermit crabs eat decaying matter. I doubt that a smelly goldfish would be harmful to them. They've been known to eat a horse/mule for like a week after it died.
