Question I'm new and with a few questions

First of all are they nocturnal? If so it doesn't matter to me cuz i own a hedgehog also and their nocturnal too. Secondly how long is their lifespan? I know these are basic questions but I owned one a while ago but it died cuz I had not fully studied the care of them and looking back now there are many ways it could have died. Also I couldn't find these two questions in what I read about them.

Welcome. You have come to a good place to find your answers.

Yes - they are nocturnal. At first, once you get some hermies, they will investigate their new home. But once they get accustom to their surroundings, they will sleep/hide during our day. I do have a couple who seem to be reverse as it is usually my Digger that is up during the day and hiding during the night.

Their average life span 10-30 years with proper care.

Not all are nocturnal but yes nocturnal by nature- I have many that are up all day and night- I often wonder when they sleep

If you put them in a small plastic Kritter Keeper and care for them according to the pet store then they would be LUCKY to live 6-8 months

I notice that my large crabs are up during the day and very active during the evening.

My small crabs don't often come out in the day, however, when I get up in the morning their tank usually looks like a tornado went through it at some point during the night.

I guess it all depends on the crab, or the colony.
