Talking Introducing.... Me!

Hello everyone! My name is Jenn and I'm new to these forums and to crabbing. So new in fact that I've not even gotten my hermies yet (planning to either this weekend or next week). As is true with most things in my life, I decided to do a lot of research before getting into this hobby and part of that research lead me here!

I am a full time working mom and my hermies will have their home with me in the office. A friend (who I also referred to these forums) recommended I look into hermies after my work-fishy passed away. My cube is lonely without some little buddy/buddies to keep me entertained. He is also planning to get back into crabbing and we're planning to socialize our crabs every so often together!

I have come here to gain some knowledge prior to getting my hermies as well as continue to learn and share experiences once they've arrived in their new home here at my desk.

Welcome and kudos for doing your homework BEFORE buying your crabs. There is nothing worse than finding out that you are doing everything wrong after you buy them! What size set-up are you planning to put in your office?

Yeah y'know I was trying to figure out how to PM. I don't see the option available to me. Why is that?

Anyway, Indian Trail is south-west NC, about 30 minutes North of the SC border.

For now I'm setting up a 2.5 gallon tank with two tiny hermies in it. I figure I can always increase that size as needed but since it's here in the office I'm limited obviously. Today is the day though! I have it all setup and ready to go!

i think the smallest Size recomended is a 10 Gal because the rule is Aleast 5 gallons per small crab.

I read a few books and each said 10 gallons for 5-6 small crabs. So I figured 2.5 is fine for my 2 tiny ones.
