Hi. Well, I am not the most experienced crab owner out there, but I bet they just went under the sand for a bit. Mine do that all the time and then they pop up again (of course it's a bit shocking when you first get them and then you think they are out and about). Of course if they go down and stay down for awhile, then you could have a molt in progress. I have one of my large PP's doing that and it's exciting since I have never had a crab actually do that before. Happy hunting for the MIA's, they'll turn up.
