Question Hi new here, new to crabbing

Hi there I have 4 crabs and I am new to all this. I have a question, my crabs usually all sleep together and today I noticed one is off by himself, do you think he could be molting?

Congrats on your new pets and Welcome to HCRU!!! You'll get lots of great info here!!! When a crab is getting ready to molt, you may notice it spending a lot of time in the salt water dish and eating more than usual. Also, it will bury itself. If it's still above the sand, most likely it's not molting yet. Sometimes, if the substrate conditions aren't right, crabs will molt on the surface, but in that case they usually try to find a quiet, dark spot in the tank (usually under a hidey or something like that). Good luck!!!

Thanks for the info. They usually sleep together and the one is behind the house. He is most of the way under the sand. He has been there going on 2 days now. Thanks again for the info. I'll take all the info I can get.

Welcome, Dorothy!

As you will find, each crab has its own personality. Some will be up on the surface except when they're moulting, others will come up every week or so, have a good dinner, and then go down again.
