it's a "20 gallon"...it's 12"tall, 12" wide, and 30?" long

What is 20L and 20H???

I was worried that Red might be too big for my tank? Opinions? He's between golfball and baseball.

You said the # sounds good, does that mean I shouldn't get any more?

Thanks for the info thus far Moire!

Hi Pineapplemama
Congrats on your new crabbies!
It sounds like you have a 20L (long).

I used to have 20L and it was plenty of room for my initial group of 10 or so. They were mostly about quarter size (some smaller).
Just make sure to keep plenty of places for them to hide in and lots of stuff to climb on.

Your set up sounds great!

Yep, you could probably get a few more in there. But keep in mind that they'll do some growing if all goes well. I am amazed at how much some of my little guys have grown in just a year or so.

When I had a 20L as my main tank, I had a crab that sounds like he was about the same size as Red. I think the size is fine, but Straws are super-active, and sometimes I wondered if my 75 gallon was really big enough for my larger Straws when they were alive. I noticed that my large Straws really liked to patrol the edges of the tank, so I tried to leave a path around the edge so that they could do their laps.

Woo hoo, mine's normal!! Red is basically the parimeter police. He spends at least half his time roaming the edges of the tank. He likes to try to climb up shell end first, which is rather amusing to watch.

I think if I get any more little guys they will be little ... or tiny even! I think they are soooo cute! Of course if I stumbled upon a small or tiny straw I would be doubly happy. But we'll see. Petco is the only one of the four PS's here that carry straws so I just have to keep an eye open.

Okay so it turns out that in the house my sis-in-law is trying to "flip" the people ran off and left like 3-4 aquariums up in the attic... tee hee hee...looks like my crabbies may be getting an upgrade! I can't wait to see what they have...she said one is HUGE! That would be soooo cool. I think Red really needs more space! He is such an active little booger, especially at 3am!

Sorry, but I just had to tell someone...who would understand the goofy giddy feeling!

Oh comeon...we gotta have at least 1 nutball like us in each State...just to keep all the normal people on their toes right?!?!!?

Plus, Cali and Texas are both huge...we've probably got some allies within our states too!

Oodles o Toodles...but clean up the Noodles...

Are the sizes the crabs + the shells, or just the crabs?

just shell-wise mine are

Red-golf...maybe a hint bigger...I don't play golf so I'm not an expert on golfballs

Bishop-half dollar

Galahad-between q and half

Pawn-quarter

Checker-quarter

Rook-quarter

Mover Jr-half dollar

Shaker-quarter

Bow-nickel-quarter

Arrow-nickel(w)-quarter(l)...he's in a long ended shell...

Java-almost a nickel

Pekoe-almost a nickel

You have thoughts on #crabs per gallon or square inches per crab??
