Default Hermies in Norfolk/Virginia Beach

Hey, does anyone know where to get hermies in Norfolk or Virginia Beach? Now that I have the 20 gallon up a running and everyone is healthy, I want a few new babies. What I really want is some micros or teenies. And of course I would love another species besides PP's, except Straws. I don't know why, but they freak me out!

Any suggestions? Thanks

Good news, and bad news.

I visited Virginia Beach for the first time this past June

with the intent of picking up some hermies before I left.

I did end up finding them in a small souvenier shop by the beach. I probably shouldn't say the name but if you PM me I could tell you

however. . .

they were in wire cages so I had to say something but -

I did end up rescuing three of the little guys and brought them home with me

I wish I could have gotten more.

But if you're up for the rescuing. . .

Yeah, my first two hermies came from a souvenier shop. My mom was visiting and got two in metallic painted shells. She was told the usual that all they need is the little plastic box and a sponge. That's how my whole journey of crabbing started, but I love these little guys and with the help of all the different web sites I'm quite an expert now!

I thought I might check out the souvenier shops and do some rescuing, but then I think maybe I shouldn't support them with my dollars. It's hard to know the right thing to do.

Thanks for your thoughts, Meg.

Pablo Escabar,

as you may have seen in some pics I've posted, came from there as well :]

But you're right.

It is kind of hard to know which is right between the rescuing and supporting the shops.

My guess is that they're just not

"in the know"

about what the crabs really need.

I'm sure they're not meaning to have them in such a harmful environment.

Then again. . .

they do sell dead baby sharks in glass jars.

People can be so cruel.
