Can you describe what it smells like? That will help pinpoint the source of the smell.

Like Chuck said, how would you describe it? Musty, fishy, chemical? Let us know and we'll try to help!

How's your humidity? Mine smells "musty" if the humidity is too high. Also, are you sure there aren't any dead crabs? That could cause the "fishy" smell. What kind of substrate do you use?

my humidity guage isnt working correctly rite now so i have to get a new one. if it helps i think it has to be above what it is soposed to be because our air conditioners is broken right now and it is over 85 degrees here in GA. there are no dead crabs in the cage. i use regular playsand that can be bought from any hardware store.

hermie101 says the tank has been cleaned out and new sand put in. Therefore, the smell couldn't be coming from a dead crab.

This is tough. When you put the new sand in, did it still smell? If not, it might be something you have in there. The only thing I can think of is that one of the items in the tank may be causing the smell. If you took a couple of things at a time out for a few days, and put them in another room, that may help you pin-point the smell.

Either that, or you're going to have to put a clothes pin on your nose.
