Yeah, about the "to handle or not to handle" debate. I believe it has largely to do with a crabs dispostion as to whether or not it will be stressed by someone handling it.
My oldest crab Orange has never liked being held, and even after seven years he still does not particularly like me... But, I also have a medium crab (Violet) that was sweet and curious from day one. And she loves to be taken out and go "exploring". ![]() However, whenever I take any crab out of the tat, I always make sure that the room is nice and warm, and if the humidity is low I simply dampen a towel for the crabbies to crawl on. And dont worry dgh_1984, after a while you stop seeing them as spidery looking things and instead (as alli'smommy said) your babies. Might sound silly but just watch it'll happen.

Talking to the animals.... You are on the road to being a true crabbie lover. It gets even better. I talk to my turtle (and his visitor lady friend) and they turn their head to me as if to say the crazy lady is at it again.
