It's getting close and I still haven't found a video that shows how they get them out. I'm going to start looking for documentation in written records of some sort but its getting close and I have a lot with classes so help me try to get rid of these horrid shells. Please

I haven't found anything either. I have been telling ppl I know about all of this, and giving them the link to that awful video of the helpless crab being rammed into that shell.
You never know, word of mouth sometimes helps alot. Especially when the right person hears it.
My mom is a BIG animal right activist. She is disgusted by these acts of cruelty towards crabs, she also works with in a building with hundreds od other ppl (a nurse) each day. The word is being passed around.
My fiance also mentioned that if a bunch of ppl (us mainly) wrote letters to CNN, explaining how that should be considered cruelty to animals (it is!!!) and should be stopped, they might do an investigation and something might be done about it.
Sorry this was so long, just wanted you to know ppl are trying to help in any effort they can.

No, don't worry about the length. I like the CNN idea but I do better with presenting in person rather then writing letters so if you would help me out with that I would greatly appreciate it. Also I have been telling people about the hermit crab thing as well but not many people around here like them and just say things like "what, you have crabs, ha ha" I then say grow up and leave them. So almost any support I get will be through here.

Yeah, alot of ppl I know scoff when I chat about my hermie fam. But those close to me know how much I love them and have gotten to know mine, they have the same opinion as we do. It's cruel, and thats that.

I HATE the "you have crabs ha ha" line. It is sooooo old. I always tell them to grow up too. People are so immature. I have been searching and can't come up with anything more than what you already have. I didn't want you to think I wasn't helping!! I LOVE the CNN idea. I wonder if Dateline or shows like that would be interested in the animal cruelty angle? It's worth a shot, right? I just get mad, cause if it were dogs or cats or any other animal, they'd be all over it. But it's like crabs don't count as "real animals" in anyone's eyes. Not that cruelty to any animal should be ignored, but you know what I mean.

Yeah I'm thinking I'm just going to try to go with what I have but thanks for looking. Yeah I know what you mean about the "real animals" thing. It's alive, it groups with others, it eats, sleeps and breaths so I think its an animal.

what do they do to the crabs to get them to go in the shell? my crab victoria was in a painted shell. I'm so mad at whoever got my crab in her shell.

Couldn't find anything actually showing them getting the crab out of the shell but I have some links earlier in the message that show what I do have to show them.

here a video i found simaler to the one Emma jean has but with Sound and a guy saying that the "Crabs are happy in there new homes" !!!!!!!! this just makes me mad!!! may take a few minute to load.
