I have heard that it is not the best idea to take the hermits crabs to and from constantly. Imagine how you would feel if you were on that carnival ride that you sit inside a little cage and it spins you around and around and around. Doesn't make you feel to good does it? Thats how t he crabs probably would feel in the car. The crabs may get a little bit stressed.
PLus the change in the environment they have came unaccustomed too would also be disrupted. If you can i would find a crabby babysitter or just leave enough food and put an extra water dish in there for the 2 days that your gone. I know its hard to be away from them, but think of what is best for your little babies.

i have gone on vacation for 5 days, and am leaving tomorrow for 7 days. plus another 7 days in aug. i was really worried about leaving them for the 5 days, since i din't have anyone to crab sit. so i made the humidity a bit high, covered the top along with the plexi-glass, towels and blanket and left only with a tiny crack so the humidity stays in longer. and it doesn't get low easily, then i put in non-moldy food. like dried flowers, oats, earthworm castings, and made sure the water was filled. and when i came back everyone in the tank was fine, the humidity was about 50%, but everyone was under and came back up when the humidity was up again. they will be fine for 2 days.

I agree with jeswwjd23....leave them behind and give them foods as suggested. I have been camping a number of times over the summer without any problems. And especially because you just got the Straw, he doesn't need that kid of stress!
