I'm new to the hermit crab game. May I ask what is unsafe about the food products you have listed? (Hermit crab variety bites,Tetra Fauna Hermit crab cakes,& Fmr land hermit crab food.& I guess zoo med's calci sand.) I have the crab cakes but my crabs don't eat them anyway.
Thank you very much! Donna M |

Give them some fresh food instead, and they'll chow right down! I used to think that my crabs didn't eat, but then I took all the pet store food out of their diet, and now it is very obvious that they eat! ![]()

Look @ the ingredinents (Sorry 4 spelling errors) on the commerical food you have, then google it. You'll find that there's all kind of bad stuff in it,plus you don't what's in it & what's not. They don't have to put it on the label. They don't care if they hurt your hermies they just want the $$$ & it may even "kill" your crab(s) so then again they would be getting more $$$. (If you go out & buy more hermies/food from the pet store)
