Default "Crabby" Since Molting

My small crabby, "Baby" has been really cranky since his stressful molt. He hasn't buried like I expected him to, but everytime you pick him up he starts working the BP "snap, snap, snap" .He's not just bluffing either...he's keeps trying to pinch me and anyone else who holds him.

Whenever I have a crabby crab. . .

I hold them it gloves until it warms up to me.

Eventually, the glove comes off.

This is kind of stressing me out because Baby has always been a very social and gentle crab.

I have noticed that my crabs actually get defensive or very shy after a molt. It's like they forgot who feeds them !

Some crabs seem to change after a moult. Dorian, my largest E, was always out and about all day long. He moulted and shortly after changed from a D shell that was way too small (but you all know how Es can be) into a beautiful white banded turbo. My husband was lucky enough to see it. And that was the last we've seen of him. Now he's always buried and on the rare occasions he comes up, he goes right back down again.

And as Meg said, wear a sock until he settles down. Whenever I go crab shopping I bring a lightweight sock because I'm handling crabs that aren't used to me.

So, krackers, hope Baby settles down for you soon.
