Ok guys, I found another claw in my FB. Also a leg but, no crab around them. Do they move while they are molting? All seem fine, still down though. mybtrflys3 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

i havent had any of my crabs move around while molting did you check inside the claw and leg to see if they were hollow or not?? If there not hollow one of your crabbies more then likley is stressed out and losing limbs. Checks out your extra parts and see if there hollow. Also they may be losing limbs if your humidity is to high or to low or if your tank is to hot and there drying out.

Crabs do move around while they are molting. I bought a small white ruggie that dug into the sand the moment she was placed in the tank. I didn't see any signs of her for a month. Then one day I picked up a water dish and found some of her exo. Still no crab. I waited some more and when she finally surfaced, she was on the other side of the tank at the other end from where she started. It was strange that she'd traveled so far underground during her molt but I knew it was her exo. She's the only white crab I have.

Ok. This is the one that I think is molting, mystery. He went naked for awhile under the FB and I found him, put him in a glass with a few shells. Well, he got in one and I put him back under. I noticed he changed his shell again and went under. I keep finding him in different spots under the FB. I have moved his leg and claws under him again.

I think crab's loosing limbs is stress related. I just deep cleaned my tank several days ago and then my crab lost his limb. Everyone of my crabs I have has a limb lost. quite wierd.
