Hi All,
this morning I noticed that one crab Randy, that I hadn't seen in a few days, had been dug up by another one of my crabs Earl. The part that really freaked me out was Randy was out of his shell and the other crab I think was trying to get at his newly shed exoskeleton. I didn't know he was molting until I saw a pink thing about 3 inches from his shell. I moved the aggressor away and Randy ran back into his shell. I isolated Randy and his exoskeleton, but am wondering if he will be ok. I am fairly new to this and this is only my second molt Any help would be greatly apprecited |

I have found with my crabs that after they molt they will run around naked and i cant figure out why. Just try to leave him alone and dont disturb him. Make sure he has alot of calcium and protien and fresh dechlorinated water everyday aswell as his basic food mix. Make sure that your humidity and temperature are high enough that your crabbie is comfortable.

This crabbie has a lot of destressing to do. If he's in an iso place it somewhere dark and quiet. Make sure he has salt and fresh water and a small cap full of honey. Crabs always need time to destress when they molt and this little guy has been truly terrorized. If he's still in the main tat, place a coco hut over him gently instead. Give him peace and time to heal.

Hi All,
Thanks for the advice he seems like he is doing ok and I have tried to leave him alone as much as possible. Today he looked ready to come out of his sanctuary(part of a 2 litre bottle). He seemed fine, running all over the place but staying away from other crabs. And with good reason. I found Earl attacking him again and this time he damaged his big claw a tiny bit. He is back in his plastic bubble now. It looks like Earl is trying to take him out of his shell. I have another shell that is the same and he didn't want that one, I just placed a new one in and he moved in it in 5 minutes. Any idea if I let the Randy out is he just going to get attacked again or will Ealr be a little calmer now that he has a new home? |

Oh, I wouldn't put that crab back in the main tank. keep him in an iso, I mean put your crab bully in the isolation tank so he'll get the message. You should be feeding your crab meet.
