Default Misting

I like to mist shelly directly on the gills each day. I was wondering if you should do it with salt or freshwater. Any suggestions?

I was informed that you aren't supposed to mist your crabs directly. It causes stress, and especially not water conditioner. It can actually clog their gills and make it hard for them to breath.

I mist the crabitat daily with salt water, helps prevent mold. And...if a crab gets in the way...he gets it! Their water dishes can provide all the moisture that they need when they want it.

Of course if I'm mistaken, someone please inform me.

No mommy you are right- that would annoy me if someone misted my face everyday LOL and I would never use salt water as it could crystalize and irritate the gills.

Ok, I get it now. But what about bathing? I'm not in the mood to debate over bathing, I just want to know for when I do bathe if I should use fresh or salt water.

You don't need to bathe them, they do it all by themselves. I only bathe new comers.

Chermo's right. Keep their water dishes full enough and big enough for them to submerge on their own and they will bathe themselves.

well, the stuff I use isnt regular water conditioner. And ive been using it for a while and they seem ok. And you should use salt water to mist the tank?
