I have a red legged reef crab, whom I've had for a few months.
A couple of weeks ago I noticed that he had a bristle worm stuck between 2 of his legs (front leg w/claw and 2nd leg). I gave him a FW dip to try and "shock" the bristle worm but that did not work. The worm disappeared after a few days, but now his front leg is grey looking. Will this leg drop and repair itself? Also, are bristle worms a major thing to worry about with my crabs? ![]() Other info: Meals: Lettuce, brine shrimp, flakes Temp: 76.9 Tank: 45 Gal Saltwater Other: I do have a six line wrasse in the tank that is feeding on the bristles. |

The Hermit crab association forum has a section on Marine Crabs, you may want to become a member of that site and ask this question there. It is hermitcrabassociation.com they may be able to help better since there are tons of people there with Marine and Land Crabs.

Ok, I'm not exactly an expert on marine crabs, but the crab should drop the leg on its own if it gets bad enough. It might even heal on its own. Right now I guess it's just a matter of waiting. Sorry I don't know any more than that.
