Default Stinky

My tank always smells funny! I can't clean it because I don't have any sand and also, two of my crabs are molting. Is there anything I can do to make the smell go away?

What's it smell like? Are you changing the food dishes everyday?

I smells kind of sour-ish. And no, I usually change them every few days.

A decomposing crab stinks! You'll know for sure if he's dead if he falls out of his shell. Hang on - he may be fine.

I use sand and I have to spray the top with water to keep it moist and keep the humidity up since mine like to hide, a lot, and it has a musty odor to it. Is it this kind of smell or a fishy smell?

I don't know what you mean by "musty". And it's kind of fishy, but my mom thinks it might be the dried shrimp that smell fishy.

Musty smell means mold. Maybe take the shrimp out for a couple of days and put something else in there for them to eat. If it still smells fishy, you know somethings wrong. Change their food EVERY day. They also like to bury their food for a treat later. Maybe they did that????

Oh... I don't think there's any mold, but I can't clean it out right now because John F. is molting. I'll take out the shrimp and see if the smell goes away. =]
