My crabs won't chirp!

Why won't my crabs chirp!?

I've always wanted to hear them do it but they never do. Am I doing something wrong?

No your not..... Mine (only one) has ever chriped. none of the other have chriped

they will chrip when theyfeel like it
don't worry you won't miss it eather.... its loud!! very loud it sounds like a purr-click-sqweek. my crab woke me up in the middle of the night chripping.

Just give them some time youll hear it

It took me a long time to hear chirps- its usually a sign of distress so you dont really want to hear it

yes distress- like when one is on top of another or someone is stealing a shell. I really only ever see it when one is on top and the other is mad!

Sometimes crabs chirp for pleasure too. Mine once chirped for no reason; just chirped because he could.

I concur that the only time I've heard my crabs chirp is when they are fighting or mad

. From what I understand, PPs don't chirp as much as some of the other species. When they do chirp, you have to know what you are listening for or you may not catch it. I would describe it as a low sounding hen cluck (if you've ever heard chickens when they are just walking around maing low noises).
