Default Down and Chirping

One of my new big crabs have went down and I hear him chirping, by the way this is the first time I have heard anything from my crabs it kinda freaked me out at first, then I came on here and read that others chirp, so I'm good, still getting use to it, but good. Anywhoo....
He is down and chirping and I was wondering if that was him calling for help or something or maybe looking for his buddy. I don't know.. I do know that they were in only a 1/2" thick layer of purple shiny gritty stuff when I picked them up so I'm sure they are not used to being able to dig down. I'm worried that he may be lost and can't find his way out. I also hear him tapping on the glass on the bottom. Please help I don't wont him to be scared or unable to breath.

why cant I laugh?

Seriously I think he is ok--maybe its a chirp of sheer joy thathe can indeed bury!!!!! can you see under the glass? the tapping maybe his making of the cave- maybe the chirping was a warrior sound saying Im going down to molt dont anybody bother me!
I am sure he is ok!

Well I thought it was kinda silly.

I did pull the tank out some and I saw him but that yesterday and I haven't heard him since this morning. I hope he isn't molting already he's huge, he'll be gone forever.... I just got'em I wanna play with'em OK I gotta check, I'm pulling it out again. if you don't hear from me for a few days it means I was crushed by a very heavy aquarium...LOL!

Update now they are both down and chirped for a lil while and it has been quiet since, I guess they are ok, I still pull the tank out and peek but they don't seem to like that because they will move. There is no smell yet so I'll just have to see what happens. When they come up they will be in a totally different atmosphere, I hope it wont be to stressfull. Thanks Hermez!

I could never forget you all, your my new buddies! It might be a lil while b4 I'm back on due to moving but as soon as I'm up and running I'll update again!

I wonder if they were being territorial and warning others to stay away? Are there other crabs in the crabitat? I would watch for aggression if you don't already have others and decide to add some more.

They were the only 2 in there, they are in iso since they are new, however today it being 2 weeks since I got them, they are still down, every once in a while I'll hear a scratch or something. I don't know I'm still a lil worried about them, and it sux that as soon as I got them they went down only to not be seen again... I hope once I'm settled they will come back up so that I can see them.
I have a total of 18 crabs so they wont be lonely, I just have to wait for them to come up so they can be introduced to their new buddies!
Maybe they are as stressed as I am about this whole moving bit.
