You can smooth out the sand if you want to see evidence of them walking around or eating. Other than that, they will redecorate to the way they want it.

Of course, you will want to pick up any food that got dragged off the food dish.

Hmm, well I think I know why they were acting weird!
All my hermies burried themselves about the same time I made that last post, and haven't come up since- this isn't normal for them, and I'm pretty sure they've gone down for a group molt... this was confirmed yesterday when I took the chance to smoothe some of the sand out, and accidentally knocked out a hollow area where Pip was molting >.<
He didn't seem too disturbed, I just left and didn't come back until this morning, and he is reburried again.
I hope all goes well with all three of my hermies molting... this will be Padre's first since I've had him, and Pip's first since I've had him, and I'm thining that it will be Pip's first in general, he's so small. This will be Jerzy's.... hmm... I think THIRD?? She sure likes to molt, lol!
Anyway, I am sure they will be fine, and this will be good because I don't want to have them molting when I introduce them to their new brothers/sisters in two weeks- I'm adopting!! ^-^

Will the hygrometer and thermometer get messed up if they're attached to the coco-bark? i mean would it throw the humidity off because I'd like to stick mine to coco-bark too but I'm not sure.

The crabs will crawl on the coco sheet. And those gauges come with velcro or another sticky tape that needs a smooth surface to stick to. You also want to place that gauge where you can read it, but give you a good indication of the inside of the tank. I mean - not up close to the top of the tank.

Would keeping the hygrometer or thermometer on the coco-bark throw the humidity or temp. readings off? Just wondering, I've been wanting to to that though.
