I have glass for my 29 gallon lid and I've cut my finger on the edges a few times. They will cut it, but it's not smooth along the edges.

Krackersmom - try taping the edges with black duct tape. It will make your life a bit easier.

Was going to do that, but just haven't gotten around to it.....guess I'll get around to it once I amputate a digit! I'm just really, really careful when I open the lid.

I excusively buy my sand from The Crabbage Patch. I swear by it. I never have to do anything to it, not even add more water, and after about 8 months I throw out the old sand and put in the new. And that's the end of my deep cleaning.

However, the sand is expensive, but since I can pick i up at her store, it's not too bad.

I would imagine the mixture is almost as good.

LOL.....I can only imagine how much it would cost to ship sand
My husband really would be sending me off for a mental evaluation if I ordered sand through the mail!

I think it costs $10 for 25 lbs - that's including the shipping
