I recently went on vacation to Galveston and I bought a hermit crab from one of the suveneir shops. I bought one of those plastic cages that come with some food and some sand and a few shells for him to live in. But I read that they need a heating pad and stuff. I won't be able to go to the store until the weekend, so will he be all right unitl then?
Also, what are the most important things for him to have? |

Okay...not to be a smarty pants or anything.....
Read through the previous posts about care and you should find tons of great information. First and foremost, I strongly encourage you to go out and buy a 10 gallon or larger tank or advertise on Craigslist or Freecycle for a free or cheap one. You need a lid that is crab proof, not holes and weight it down woth a book or something heavy. They can be quite the escape artists! Buy play sand from Lowe's or Home Depot. Provide two dishes of water fresh dechlorinated and another made with aquarium salt. Use fresh, not commercial foods. Buy a temperature and humidity gauge combo. they are about $8.99.
