The crabs you describe as being about the size of a nickel are teeny/smalls....I had one little guy that as as small as a penny...shell and all and my esteemed collegues on this website informed me that a true micro crab is even smaller
The smaller crabs do grow just like any other crab. They do molt like crazy!

You don't say how many other crabs you have. If possible, I'd go for medium smalls. I think they're sturdier than 'micros' and don't take up as much space as jumbos do.

Jumbo's can have a Awful grip but i think the older crabs can show more of a perinality ( sorry for spelling) and i think they are easyer to care for ( just my opion)
i own 2 real jumbos and 2 semi-Jumbos and i find there more fun to watch because they don't molt as often. |

Hermitpaws....my jumbo always stays up....he usually just sits in one spot on the log all day. He has only buried a couple of times for a brief period.
