Default Car ride crabbies?

Just a quick question. With summer just arriving, I spend alot of time at my cottage which is an hour and a half drive away. Is it a good idea to transport them with me or leave them in the care of someone at home?

I would think to make it easier on you, it's best to leave them at home.

How many you got? I safely leave mine for 4 days at a time. If you are going more than that then either have someone look after them or bring them (but you could run into issues if they want to molt)- this was if you had a set up at the cottage that you could put them in - in perfect conditions. I think the constant back n forth would be stressful though

I have 4 little guys about the size of a quarter. I am reluctant to leave them with someone. The last time I went away for two weeks I arrived home to find no water in any of the dishes, old food left in the tank and the temp. and hummidity levels were way too high. Two days later I found Scooter out of his shell dead by the salt water pool. The tank I use is only a ten gallon so it is easy enough to pick up and transport on the front seat of my truck. I was just wondering if the motion from moving the tank or the motion of the vehicle driving would stress them right out? Also if the small amount of carbon monoxide that they would be exposed to would effect them? I know you have to be really careful with them being around cleaners and other chemicals.

You have to do what is in your own heart. If you are going to be away for a long stretch - like before - then take them with tank & all. Wrap the tank in a big towel to cushion the bumps. Put the seat belt on around the tank. You should be good for the ride.

I will be spending 2 weeks in July and 2 weeks in August there. I do go there every weekend but leave the little guys at home for the two nights I am away. Thanks to everyone for the advise as usual it is very much appreciated. Won't I be quite the sight driving down the highway with an aquarium strapped into my passenger seat. LOL. Oh well my neighbour's grand kids at the cottage are very excited about seeing them so now they can and I don't have to leave them in the care of someone else while I'm on holidays.

I was gone last Thanksgiving and I was so worried about mine because it is a 6 hour drive out there and we stayed 6 days ( ick the reason i say that is because i am 13 years old so you try spending 6 day and 6 hours drive there and back with ur family ) but I was able to buy a portable tank about 3/4's the size of a 10 gallon tank and in the car we own we have an electric plug in for like charging you phone so we pluged in the heating pad and put them in the back seat under my feet i was able to pack all of their needs in a semi-big purse.
