I am sooo tired of getting gauges that poop out on me after a short time. I've spent waaay too much money on the cheaper models (the analog gauges and the digital ones from Walmart). I've even bought the digital Fluker's ones, but haven't had luck with those, either.
I am looking for a GOOD gauge... price is unimportant, as I'd rather spend a lot now than keep spending money on replacement gauges. I was reading through the posts, and I found where Hildegarde has a gauge designed for a humidor. I went to the website and found the number to call to see if they had any locations near me, but I guess they're closed because they didn't pick up. I'm definitely thinking of going to a cigar shop and getting the most expensive gauge they have, just so I can be done with it. Any thoughts/opinions?

Well...
I just bought a new gauge at a cigar shop for $40. It's called "Diamond Crown Precision Hygrometer", and they said that if I have any problems, it's returnable and will either be repaired or replaced. Definitely excited about that part! I'll give it some time and write a review on it. ![]()

I would like to read your review. Does it give instructions on how to calibrate it?
One of my Fluker's just went crazy on me. I emailed them but they have not responded. I would think that they would back their product. |

Did you get the Fluker's digital from Petsmart? I had, like, 4 of those and they all pooped out after a very short time.
It says that accuracy is guaranteed and does not recommend calibration. The people at the store told me that if I ever had issues with accuracy, to bring it back, and it would be repaired or replaced. The way that I plan on doing it is to get a cheap analog gauge, calibrating that, and putting that in the 'tat to test the other one (to see if it matches up w/ the calibrated one). I really like it, it really is by far the most accurate gauge I've ever had... and it better be considering how much I paid for it. It's so worth it though, because then I don't have to keep buying gauges over and over that are never accurate. ![]()

The one I recommended is the Caliber III. I've been having a problem with them so I called the manufacturer, and left a message. Someone called me from the company and asked when was the last time I changed batteries. Duh, they take batteries? So I got some new batteries about two for $4 at WalMarts.
They are guaranteed for 5 years. The number is 800-776-0099 WesternHumidor
