I received my 6 hermit crabs from the Crabbage Patch today *3 tiny and 3 small* and I have to admit I feel a lot better knowing that I got them from there. I had contemplated just going to PetSmart *an hour away* and getting them on Tuesday since the employee said that is when they get new shipments in and that is when they are "fresh". But when I asked them more questions like what species were they gonna be and what sizes were they expecting , no one knew anything. And I really did not like the conditions at the 3 local pet shops and I did not want to risk bringing home a sick crab who would pass on sooner then I would like. So we decided to just go ahead and order from the CP so we knew exactly what we were getting and I could get the sizes I wanted.
I have to say I am sooo impressed with the CP. They shipped them overnight and when I received them they were each in their own little container filled with coconut fiber and it was packed in such a way that they would not be tossled around. I was impressed with the level of customer service and a genuine concern about their crabs. Tammy called me the day before to make sure I had everything they would need and also to answer any questions I had. I got a phone call after they were delivered as well to make sure they all arrived safely and they were all doing ok. She again extended her help and advice is I should ever need it in the future. The crabs themselves were so lively! I had not seen any pet store crabs move so much. From the moment I opened the lid they were crawling around. They spent several hours exploring the 29 gallon tank eating and changing shells until they fell asleep . Well some of them went to sleep. But they all seem very healthy and look great. I am soooo glad I got them from there and I would not hesitate to buy them from the Crabbage Patch again. I'll post spme pics of my tank as soon as I get the hemp nets and ladders I ordered so you guys can seea completed tank. I love this board and appreciate all the replies to the questions I had ![]() |

I always say I'm lucky because I live only 2 hours away from the Crabbage Patch, so we get all our crabs there. When people talk about PPS and burying to destress and putting new crabs in ISO, I understand what they're saying, even if its something I have never experienced.
And Tammy really is a great crabber and really loves her crabs and takes excellent care of them! I know I'd rather have 5 crabs from TCP that 20 from a Petco or Petsmart. I think in the long run, it's probably less expensive.
