Default I've got temp/humidity issues

I am brand new to this crabbing business. We just got them Saturday. I have 3.
I have a 10g w/ a mesh lid. Yesterday I bought a hood lamp w/ 50w basking spot bulb(recommended by the petco guy). So during the day their temp was like 78*, but when the lamp went off at night it dropped down to the 60's. My son noticed in the middle of the night so turned the light back on. But, humidity is a big problem. I've been spraying, I've got the water dishes inside there, but to no avail. The humidity is very low.
I need somebody to step by step tell me what to do. I put the money into this, so I would like to be successful.
BTW, I live in Nebraska. Our temps haven't even made it to 70's during the day. Fri. high was only 37*. I'm guessing this could be part of our problem?

mesh lid is your issue- you need a glass top- 10 G is the hardest to maintain- the lights cant be on at night they need the day/night cycles. They have moon glo lights for the nightime. Please read old threads and learn what you can-there is alot to learn. WELCOME

I was having temp/humidity problems too at first. Here's what I did:

1. I have them in an old 20g fish tank with standard flouresent bulb. I cover 3/4 of the top with plastic wrap then put the lid on.

2. I had to get a clamp light with a heating bulb for day and a nightglo bulb for night to maintain temp. Just have to play around with wattage to see what your tank needs.

3. For humidity, I switched to all EE substrate, added a corner shower caddy with moss in it (they love it) and put a bubbler in the freshwater dish.

I don't have too many problems with temp/humidity now. We live in Ohio, so our weather is pretty unstable now! 30's one day, 70's the next!!! Grrrrr!!

Search the old threads, you'll learn ALOT from there! Ask any questions that you don't get answered, everyone is always glad to help!!
