Default Sterilizing coconuts and cocofiber

Is it safe to sterilize cocofiber (EE) and coconut hidey huts in the oven or in the micro? The cocofiber smells kind of funny when it comes out the oven, like overcooked gingerbread. I baked it because I overwet it when I made it. Thanks.

i'd say it'd be fine and the cocohuts are for sure fine to do in the oven because thats how i do mine. I make my own and i boil and bake them before i put them in the tank because other wise they mold for me.

When I make a new batch of EE, I take a small handful and squeeze out all the extra water (salt). It is then the right consistency for the crabs to dig in.
