Yes, the air stone goes in the bottom of the water container. It doesn't matter if you use it in the salt water or the plain water. Naturally, depending on the size of the air stone, you may need to get a deeper water container.

Do you have a cover over the screen top? Plastic wrap will do and you can leave a small area open for air circulation.
You could get one of those in tank humidifiers. |

Here's a thought. Get one of those really small zip lock containers, then a small air stone and air pump. Sink it in a corner and allow that to replace one of your water dishes (salt or plain). My bubbler has salt water and at times the glass inside the tank does get a salt build up. It wipes off easily, but if you don't want to bother with that use it for the plain water.

hmm, ill have 2 look into that. i dont think my jumbo could fit into those containers but its worth a try. i used to have 4 of those but 2 have actaly been used as crab caskets =[.

Hermies do have a way to cope and adjust. Watch him to see if he is eating. You can help by making the pieces of food really small (dice). I noticed a few of my crabs will eat fresh foods when I make the pieces really tiny and break up the seeds (sunflower seeds especially).
