Default ants help!

alright so yesterday i'm going about my day as usual i get up and check on the crabs, they seem fine, nothing unusual or anything like that. I go and help my mom do a few things and come back a couple hours later to check on the tank and WHAT DO I FIND? theres a circle of little tiny ants and i think they were dragging the calci-sand all over and eating it and whatever, but i'm not entirely sure what they were after. needless to say i flipped out i bought two new ones a few weeks ago that buried right after i got them home, my first thought was 'they must be dead and the ants are eating them' so i feel horrible for but i dug them up to make sure and they're fine it seems. one of them ate the exo and was up within a couple of hours, but he's since buried again. now my question is, will these ants hurt the crabs? they all seem to be fine and un phased by the ants, but i want to make sure that them living together for a few days longer isn't going to be horrible for the crabs because thing is, our car broke down, and the only other way my dad has to get around is his motorcycle, and going all the way to home depot on the motorcycle and carrying back a 50 lbs bag of sand is just not possible at this time. but my sister is bringing me her old turtle tank and will tank me to get sand when she comes over some time this week and i'll get them situated and all fixed up. I think I'm going to move them away from the window again as well cause i think that could be where they came from. that was long winded, but i'm done now. I just need to know if anyone else has had this problem before?

What kinds of ants are they? Tiny or big and black? They are coming from somewhere so you need to look around the tank to find their entrance into the tank and their source.

Kill them at the source (where they are coming into the house).
Put petroleum jelly at the spot where they are climbing up and into the tank.

Most ants look for a food source to take back to the nest. Stopping them from coming in or out is the first step.

If you've got fresh raw ungranulated garlic then peel the garlic and place the whole clove of it directly in the middle of the stream of ants smack dab on the middle of the floor. The ants should turn around and leave. If not then you should put garlic in the tat out of the crabs reach. Garlic is an insect repellant meaning it'll also repel crabs but they'll be fine. Hopefully the pests should soon scamper.

They sound like "sugar ants" and those little buggars are a pest! Just remember not to use ant spray in or near your crabitat. I remember one of our member had a catastrophe with that.....
Try the garlic and petroleum jelly....move your crabitat to a new location. Remember that ants will eat anything! A lethargic, freshly molted crab could be a target for them. Keep a close eye on the situation.
