Artificial food dishes I think are okay. Boiled in salt water periodically helps keep it clean. And hermies do not always eat soft foods. They do like to eat some crunchy stuff periodically like river shrimp.

But I have to agree, the water dish is too small and gravel is a no-no as well as the plastic tank.
