So last night I went to bed and my crabs were all out and happy including my jumbo named BIg Ben! I wake up this morning and he has covered himself with the water bowls and is underground. I only have at the most 3 inches in the deepest part of my tank for him to bury himself, is this enough? Also should I remove the water bowls and cover him with a 2 liter? Please Help Im freakin cuz I've never had one this big molt before!

Absolutely put more sand in. A jumbo needs A LOT of bury room. How big is he? The kinda of golden rule is to have at least two times as much sand as your biggest crab.

If he is going under the water bowls, just leave him be. They know what they are doing. Mine bury there all the time, and not just for molting ... for some play time too.

Hawkins, your profile says that you have 9 crabs in a 10 gallon. Does that include this jumbo? That is waaaaay tooo many crabs for a 10g.

Yeah, I heard 1 jumbo alone requires at least 5 gallons.

it helps to think about it in inches it should be at the least 2-3 inches over your biggest crab, ( so if he burries to the bottom you should have to dig 2 to 3 inches atleast before you find him)( you never want to dig up a burried crab though) so yes you definitly need more sand. and plz get your crabbies a bigger home or divide them into different tanks.
