Just curious as to what everyone uses. Hope I didn't miss anything.
I use Divided Substrate.
Eco Earth, and Play Sand.
when i get my 55 gallon finally set up i'm mainly going to use Eco Earth. when i first crabbed 2 years ago I had half EE and half calci-sand. i noticed the crabs never dug in the sand so this time i'm doing all EE with a little sand box of playsand i'm going to see if they like the playsand more then i'll probably do half n half for the first deepclean of the tank if they dig in the sandbox!
I use eco earth (coco fiber). My hermies love it and are often covered in the dirt.
play sand at home depot is what I use thanks to coccrisp for that great idea.
I know what you mean! I also use coco fiber and my crabs get their shells and legs completely filthy! When I let them out, they trail it everywhere, and it's always in their food and water bowls! They like it though, so I wouldn't want it any other way!
I use divided, Eco-Earth and gravel.
All my food, water, and pools are on gravels. The rest of the tank is sand mixed with EE.
Now I use eco earth and playsand from Home Depot. I think my hermies like the choice.
Now I set up my big tank as such: mainly play sand, a little EE in the bedding/hut area, and a gravel lake/beach area. My smaller tank has sand, my Iso's have EE, and I have a KK with an inch of calci-sand only cuz it came with it. :-/ I don't know why I keep it, its not like I travel with them. I guess if I was out of ISO's and I had a surface molter. Eww, sticky and dusty.
My crabs seem to prefer the EE, which is a mess and harder to clean. If I get a bigger tank I would like to have it divided evenly.
i use EE. When i upgrade i'll use a mixurte
I have divided - EE & Playsand
I wish you could choose more than one because until Monday, my tank is sand and coconut fiber. After Monday it will be coconut fiber only, but my ISO will remain sand (it was expensive sand, I'm not throwing it away!).
