I'm going to have a funeral for them.:( I'm waiting for a day where everybody is up and the temp and humidity are good so my hermies could attend.

Good luck scheduling that! My crabs just won't cooperate.

Don't feel bad hermitpaws. I did something worse. i took his shell! It was a very popular shell among them..... I don't think I would repeat that action again.

In the wild, they would most likely be eaten and the shell reused - so don't feel too bad.

Although I haven't lost one in my most recent run at crabbing, way back when I first started, I cremated them. I suspect I'll stick with that method if something unfortunate ventures my way.

Time doesn't always allow for a proper burial. Decomposition waits for no crab. Especially since they've been dead for days before you know for sure they're really dead. :-/

well when a crab dies i take it out of it's shell and boil the shell so i can re use it then. i feel bad when the crab dies cause of stress from molting or sickness but I flush the crab down the toilet.

i found my old crab book(from when i had crabs 2 years ago)and it has all of the crabs names, species and when i got them and the day they died. luckly i only had a few deaths.

I keep a fish journal; I need to start a crab one as well.

I flushed my only dead crab. If I hadn't removed his shell it might have been a different story. But because I did this I had to remove him from the house immediately. I don't even normally flush fish but it was a snap decision and something had to be done pronto!

I would keep the shell too(Or if the crab changed shells while with me I would take the shell he/she had when I bought him/her) but I'd keep it outside the tank so that nobody changes into it. I'd just keep it to remember him/her.

I threw Jaws out with the trash... I didn't really know what to do with him, and my dogs dig up the yard, so i knew they would for sure. He has fallen out of his shell when he died, but I did throw it out with him :-( my poor guy.

I have a woodline out behind my apartment building, and I put them out there. That way they get recycled back into nature - somebody else can benefit from their death.

We buried Zombie under the morning glories, without his shell. Itwas one of those ghastly Haloween things (Zombie was a free crab from the patstore who came home with us to die).

I threw away Paco and Zoom, and buried Clowny outside.

When Crusty died, I put him in a nice little box just his size, and put it in the trash can outside. I let him keep his shell, to honor jis death, and that was the only thing he owned...:(

I think perhaps that's what I'll start doing.
