Fresh garlic is not a food I would recommend giving to hermits at this time, until I have more information. It is used as an insecticide in organic gardening, and has pretty strong insect repellent qualities. The rest of it sounds good, though. Especially the flax sed and sweet potatoes.

The garlic is the only ingredient I have questions about.
It has also been used as a natural antibiotic.
I had a horse cut his leg, (cut to the tendon sheath). Vet recommended he be put to sleep.Everyday I packed the wound with pure, dehydrated garlic powder from a holistic pet supplie place. Not only did the wound heal in record time, the horse was still able to be ridden and shown, still is being shown, now 5 years later.
I also put it in the horss food as a aid to repel flies, knats etc.
Put it in the dog's food to repel ticks and fleas.
It doens't kill the pests, the odor of it is what repels them.
I know the crabs are NOT the same as dogs or horses, jsut would like to know if garlic would actually hurt them????
The amount in he bag must be a very minute amount as I cannot even get a hint of the smell when I open the bag.
