I think I'd like to try. I'm in South Texas, near the coast in a semi-tropical environment. We are out of danger of having any more freezes this year.

A Legacy of Luffa | Tips & Techniques I found this link that tells about growing and harvesting them. They are luffa sponges....like the kind you shower with! I never knew they were a vegetable....

cool... I would to give it a whirl! It's still cold here (the snow is just now about gone) so I would either have to try growing it inside or waiting a bit for warmer weather.

Is it a full sun, partial sun or shade plant? What type of soil does it like? Damp or dry conditions does it prefer?

lol... sorry, I'm jumping the gun a little here... i just LOVE plants! :)

This is the site I came across. I was looking for sponges for the store and saw that. It peaked my interest, did a little research (says it's like Okra and okras on the safe list) then searched for some seeds.

How To Make (and grow) A Luffa! GroovyGreen.com - Start Today :: Save Tomorrow

Starshine, I'm not sure yet as I need to do a bit more digging on info. But great questions for sure! Krackersmom2, thats a kewl site I will have to read it more.

    I'm getting excited already!
