I travel *a lot* for work. This means my mother gets the task of going over to my house and checking on my hermies. Sadly, she pretty much freaks out and screams like a loon so their normal diet of fresh foods is out the window.

    My solution? Dehydrated yummies!

Since there is little to no difference in the vitamins and nutrients contained in dehydrated fruit and dehydrated vegetable products, I started using the below receipes to make non-messy meals beforehand.

    Ground Delite!
Fresh coconut, blood oranges, salmon. Cut in small peices or slices.
Place in a dehydrater - length of time based on the quantity.
Put food, almonds, and flax seed into food processor (magic bullets are awesome).
Dump in a baggie, lasts a few weeks - easily.
I even put it in a shaker to make it easier on the sitter.

    Now...

    Hermit Crab Fruit Rollup
Puree your favorit fruits. Use as little distilled water or sea salt water as possible.
Spread it out on the plastic sheet in the dehydrater. turn it on!
(If you don't have a dehydrater, use the oven. Set it about 150 and prop the door open a bit..)
Cut the rollup in peices and wrap in plasic. Store in an airtight container and it stays for a few weeks. You can also freeze it.

[I've been known to blend up fresh crickets...not for the light-hearted.]

Puree means liquified. Sometimes you have to add a little water, I just use seasealt water or distill. It needs to be creamy and smooth. Take the seeds and skins off...anything that would make it lumpy or hard. I'll post a picture once I return from my trip.

I often tie the rollup in the net.....What's that up there mom?? Here...let me show you how cute we climb together! click click clamber click! Yummy!
