I can't afford an ISO tank. All the stores like Walmart (probably the cheapest place around) the cheapest tank they have is 2.5 gallons and $20! I was thinking of using my main tank as ISO (10g) and lean toward getting a 20g for my main tank but all the stores in my area are way too expensive. And there are no flea markets around whatsoever. Does anyone know of a store that has lowpriced tanks?

Try craigslist. It's the cheapest place I know and you can find a ten gallon tank for $5. Also try goodwill and second hand stores and thrift stores. They often have good deals.

Petco or Petsmart usually have 10g's(no hood or anything) for about $10.

You could always look on ebay but the shipping will kill you. maybe you could find a 3-5 gallon tank and the shipping would not be too bad. But for a ten gallon it's a ridiculous $18 for shipping. These "All living things" tanks are just the bare tank and they are pretty cheap too.

It shouldnt cost to much for a ISO if you look around, like the others say, try Craiglist, although I like Walmart better

Really?! That's so inexpensive! Are you sure it's not 5 gallon or something? That's like nothing.

I'm sure it is a 10 gallon. It is my ISO tank now but that was what I started with.

I got my 10 gallon from walmart, are you looking at just the tank or are you looking at a lid too at walmart, the 10 gallon I got was $11 with no lid and I made a lid out of plexi glass but my plexi glass was free so I don't know how much a hardware store will charge to buy the piece of plexi and then the cutting charge.

2.5 gallons? That's practically non-existent. Try hunting down any yard sales or places where people are just getting rid of all their junk. I found both my 10g main tank and 5g ISO at two different yard sales, and I think the total of it all was about $15.

2.5 gallon tanks often cost more than the industries biggest seller: the 10 gallon. Look at Walmart again - usually their 10 gallons are <$12.

Check around for sales, and look for tanks that leak. Fine for crabs and often sold off at a steal.

Walmart is usually the cheapest, though you can look at some of the mom and pop stores - every once and a while there is a sale on.

IMO As long as we're not buying the crab in the cup, I think it's fine:)

Ours doesn't sell any type of live animal. And it's the only store in a 20 mile radius that has anything other than groceries or shoes. I hate living in the middle of nowhere.
