Which crab is this? Poor little guy. What substrate do you use? How much? What is the temp and humidity? When did he go down? What species is he?

He's a PP, he buried himself just after St. Patrick's Day, so he's been down a while, but he just started smelling yesterday. He's my really big one. The sand was about 6 inches deep, and I used play sand with a very little bit of calci-sand mixed in.
Temp and humidity were in range. I don't know what else to say. I haven't touched him yet because I really don't want him to be dead. I mean, is it possible the smell is so strong cuz he's so big?

I did it. I dug him up. He ended up molting, but none of his exo appeared to be eaten. He looked really soggy and smelled pretty awful. I wish I knew what went wrong. :(

Definitely dead. Really dead. I can't even describe how strong and terrible he smelled. I don't think it was a molting smell because it was very strong. I mean it made the whole room smell and he looked really dead-- not moving at all and really really mushy.
He must have died very soon after he molted.
I wonder when he died or even when he molted and what caused him to die. Maybe I did something wrong.
