    Are you using play sand or calci-sand? Calci-sand is known to get smelly when wet, and can harden in your crab's shell. It's especially bad for molters, because when they dig their hole to molt, they dig an air pocket, and if it gets wet, it hardens into a shell around them and they can't get out, and they can die. Calci-sand is good mixed with food as a calcium supplement though. :)

    EDIT: Just reread your first post, and I see you use playsand. :) Woops.

    I prefer Eco Earth (EE) but whatever floats your boat :p

    Your crabitat has everything reccomended and needed, and that is what matters. Not if it is fancy or anything.

    Playsand is also three $ per bag where calci sand is 10. You could try and earn some money buy having a buisiness. I sell stuff on ebay that i buy at Yard sales and you could also trying mowing lawn or getting a job at a small shop.
