Heya, so I found some nifty artificial turf square. Basically plastic grass patches. Put one in and set the tiny shell on it. Medium shells are in the basket in the back. Large shells are in the basket above. I also bought a larger hermit today, henceforth named Crabzilla! No pics of him yet, he's shy, but soon!

You did an amazing job! My favorite part is the grass area with the shells. Perfection!

I love looking at people's tanks, I love the ones that think out side the tank and add unsual things.

Thanks vicki, I really like that grass patch too. I had never seen it at the dollar store before. I know they sell something similar in pet shops but it's like 20+$. These cost me 2$ :)

That's a great idea! I have grass patches like that but that stick to the back of the tank so they can climb. I have always been looking for a way to keep the shells clean. On sand they get dirty, they seem to sink into the coconut husk, the little baby crabs can't get into a shower caddy, so I might try this grass patch idea out...

By the way, your tank looks amazing! There are so many little thinks to look at and so many things for the crabbies to climb! They lust LOVE it!

Thanks, I think they will like it, I always found the smaller ones had a harder time getting to the shells.

Wow that was a great find! I've never seen them out here at dollar stores either. I had something like it at one time, but it was major $$.

I wonder could you velco that stuff to your tank? or use command hooks and poke hole in grass to hang on hook, could you use command hooks in the tank to hang other stuff? HHHMMMM? any idea's out there about this? man it's like 1:30 a.m. here and I want to go shopping and re do my tank some, just bought the castle 3 weeks ago! My husband gets miffed cause I change things in it so much or spend $ on them. I take my biggest out and go up to him and tell him here you take care of them, he freaks out and tells me in not so nice terms to get that thing away from him!

You could use 3M hooks to suspend the grass patches, I plan on doing it in my tank.

    Fantastic job LordRahl---slobber-slobber!!!  :drooltongue:

Opps, almost forgot...velcro won't hold in a crab tank because of the moisture.  It doesn't take long to lose it's sticky.  :flower:
