Red mites

    Have you tried a bath again? Sometimes the mites wont come off in a bath with reg water, you have to do a bath of double strength salt water. Not table salt, you need to use aquarium salt found in pet stores(Oceanic, Doc Wellfish etc)

    After a couple salt water bathes and some time in iso he should be okay to put into your main tank. just keep a watchful eye on him!

    Itsy, Something to remember about plants and other things that attract insects is that a hermit crabs olfactory senses (sense of smell) is very very close to that of a carrion fly, meaning that crabs very well may be attracted to the plant just as the insects are.
