Ok, I have read in numerous places that rose petals are good for them- my question is can they be fed dried out? I have a number of dried roses on my curio that I could "rob" of a few petals. If not, then I could go and see if the local flower shop would be willing to give me a couple of bruised or broken fresh ones. I appreciate your time! :)

As long as the dried ones are not treated with anything you can feed them.
If you go to the florist you have to ask if they spray anything on them to make them stay fresh. If they do, do not feed them to the crabs.

Maybe ask some neighbors who have them, if they dont use a pesticide or checmicals on them if you can have a few dying roses.
