A laser trigger was placed above the tip of an arrow mounted to a small stand. Soft-lights to the left and right of the shaft were placed to light the balloon and the blue mylar backdrop. A delay module was used to adjust the delay before triggering an electronic cable release . I stood behind the backdrop holding the balloon in both hands to maintain it's round shape before releasing it directly onto the arrow. The resulting photo caught the water frozen by electronic flash with the red balloon skin still ripping away.
Ignore the mattresses in the background, they're new and for the people whos house burned down in Okotokes in April last year.
here's me changing the oil in an airplane in 1998..lol
This is me 10 years ago with my parents and my truck.
All these women and heavy equipment.....be still my heart!
Now I'm loving this, all kinds of former military folks here. That makes me feel right at home...
Amie, that's cool seeing you working on that little plane. In my former life I was a Jet Engine Mechanic with the Air Force. I worked on F-15s and F-16s.
I was going to college to be an airline pilot before I got married. I have my private pilot's license but haven't flown in over 6 years. That feels like a lifetime ago. My Dad has his private license too, and a lot of family friends are pilots, so I still get to go up every now and then when we're in PA. It's been over a year since I've flown and I miss it something terrible, but my hubby is a chicken and wouldn't go with me. The last time I went up with my Dad, he let me do the flying and it felt soooo good to be back. Maybe one of these days I'll have to get back into it. My Dad jokes that most of the guys he knows have a hard time getting their wives to go along and I have the opposite problem...lol.
Funny Amie, I would have the same problem. My hubby hates to fly. He has to drink before taking a trip. Me, on the other hand, belonged to Civil Air Patrol in high school and learned to fly. I never got my license, and joined the Army instead.
Why didn't you continue to become a pilot? Was that about the time you had RJ?
I got married and moved to TX with Ryan halfway through college. Then being newleyweds, of course we were too poor for me to continue flying...lol. We were only married about 6 weeks till I got prengnant anyway, and after that I pretty much gave up hope of ever being able to do it again. It would help more if Ryan were also interested in it, but he's just not. Now that RJ's 5 and will be starting school in August, I've seriously considered getting back into it, if only for the going up for myself factor. I wouldn't want to make a career out of it anymore, but it's something I really love doing and RJ enjoys it too. My Dad and I joke that it's in our blood. Nobody in the family was a pilot before my Dad, then he quit for a while before I was even born because he just didn't have the time anymore. When I was about 9, I told him I wanted an airplane ride not even knowing he used to fly. He got back into it then. RJ loves going up too. The last time he sat on my lap with his nose pressed to the window. I couldn't even get him to stop looking down for a picture. Sometimes when we talk to my Dad on the phone, RJ asks him, "Grandpa, when can we go flying again?" It's too cute.
I am so addicted to this freakin game, 98% Complete, 99 of 100 Hidden Packages. Once I find the 100th, I will be 99% I think. No cheats used, except for my firstslot is the cheatdevice, which you cant save off of anyway without it still having the same properties.
Anybody know who this is? If you don't then shame on you.
Shame on me then...
:nono: Shame, shame, Matt.
j/k..Aren't you watching the 'Lympics, man?? It's Chad Hedrick, he's the speed skater from Texas who won USA's first gold...jeeez.
Your very own Shaun White! :icon_thumleft: Did you see him win gold last night? :hello2:
Shaun White was AWESOME! He's like the only American who has been able to live up to the expectations and not CHOKE like Apolo and Bode Miller (who I can't stand anyway) and his buddy. Hey those women half pipe riders were pretty awesome last night too with their very near sweep of that competition.
I agree Shaun White is a champ :icon_thumleft: Australia sucks at the winter olympics so I go for America :tongue3: Yeah some of the girls where VERY good on the half pipe, specially the bird who won!
