it sounds odd, but i think part of the reason my hermits love maple bark so much is the taste of sap. after i microwave it - it does smell sweet!

and i'd not use one with funky additives etc, i'd get the all natural pure syrup.

as an occasional treat? maybe? just wondering people's opinion before i try it.

I would've appreciated a more informative response, because I am asking a question.

I can't answer you for sure....put if it's pure maple syrup with no additives (including sugar), it seems like it wouldn't hurt them. Some people try food trials with new things and basically "test" it out to make sure it's not harmful and they like it....but there is a slight risk to that. Anyway, sorry, I can't give a definitive answer, but it doesn't sound like pure maple syrup would be harmful to them.

It's on the safe list in epicurean hermit, written by Julia Crab. The list is 5 pages long and in small print.
