No it's not safe for them due to the butter and salt on it. You can give them plain unbuttered and unsalted popcorn.

Make sure the peanuts are unsalted as well.

The problem with the salt in human food is it's iodized which can kill crabs. The salt they consume in the wild is natural sea salt, which is why you have to use special salt for crabs sold in the pet stores.

all you need is un iodized sea salt. you can get it from any grocery store, and it's only about $2. I got mine from the grocery section of walmart in the spices isle. sea salt can go on your food that you give them, even your popcorn. just stay away from the butter. I try to look at it this way: if it's unhealthy for us, it's 100x more unhealthy for them. I baby my crabs, so I may sound a little eccentric at times :) If you want a list of what you can and cannot give them... I found this post by Itsy:

it names a lot of what you can and cannot give them. :) and if you want, I'm working on a homemade recipe for my crabs, and if I can get enough people to like it, I'm going to sell it for $3 a bag (sandwich bag sized). if you would like, I can send you a sample when I get the ingredients together. Just send me a private message, k?

Another reason that table salt can't be used is because of the anti-caking ingredients.
