I was going to use plexiglass on top of my mesh lid that I have for my hermit crabs. I currently have a reptile hood with 2 bulbs one for day and one for night.

My question/s is if I put plexiglass over the whole top will it melt or crack? Also will the heat be able to get through the plexiglass to warm up the tank?

I have plastic wrap and packing tape on there now, and was wanting to use the plexiglass to hold humidity a bit better.

    thanks in advance!

The plexi shouldn't melt, if I'm correct it melts around 250F
I'd put it under the mesh if it is big enough

It depends on how thick the glass is. It does heat up and also holds in heat better.
