    I just noticed on my new straw "Spiderman" that his skin is peeled off or something?Idk?I don't want him to get hurt or have it infected.It could be nothing but,still I wanted to see what you all think.P.S.First time caring for a Straw.

    When I bought him @ petco they had no food,no shells,just a saltwater dish.I almost told this guy off but,did'nt.

    Ya.He's digging alot,& he climbs all over the drift wood.I just wanted to know if it was infected or if all Straws have that.?

    I don't have Straws, but that doesn't look good to me. I agree, it looks like some kind of shell rot or something. I'd contact Vckums and see if there is some kind of herbal bath or something she'd suggest!!

    Put some aloe vera juice on it and see if it helps.

    I have heard that aloe is toxic for crabs (according to other posts on here); so, I would not use that!

    Aloe is not poisonous to hermit crabs. If eaten it interferes with potassium absorbtion a little bit but thats only if eaten and putting it on them will not hurt. it will put a slime coat over the wound to protect it as if it were a bandage. It also helps heal the wound with a medicinal property of the juice. Aloe juice also moisturizes the exoskeleton and conserves precious electrolytes (potassium, sodium, etc.)
